Experts are people who are always seeking to further deepen their understanding of their given subject. Taking notes during a presentation is one way they do that, says Drake Baer. Your brain can only retain so much new information at a given time, and active listening and note-taking are ways to retain info that you would otherwise forget. But the thing that really separates note-takers from productive workers is that the most productive workers will think about how their notes fit into the big picture.
